Shield360 and AI security point tools

Prompt Security (now part of SentinelOne), Check Point Workforce AI Security (built on Lakera, which Check Point acquired), Harmonic Security and Nightfall AI are built to stop sensitive data reaching AI tools as employees use them, and several also protect MCP and coding tools. Shield360 overlaps with them on prompt protection. It differs in what it puts beside it: the AI spend, the audit evidence and the agent access record for the same use.

01 · In short

Where each one fits

Prompt protection is the overlap.
Cost and evidence are the difference.

Choose a point tool when

The job is data loss prevention for AI and nothing else, across every browser and desktop app people use, and your security team wants the deepest prompt-level controls. Read the cells below carefully: on browser breadth, several of these tools state wider coverage than Shield360's extension.

Choose Shield360 when

The same buyer has to answer the auditor and the CFO too. Shield360 applies one policy in the browser, an AI proxy, six coding agents and an MCP gateway, and keeps the evidence and the cost of that AI use in the same record: control status for named frameworks, signed evidence packages, spend per person, seat and key.

Run both when

A point tool already handles prompts in the browser. Shield360 can leave its browser extension off and still bring the collector's shadow-AI and personal-account findings, coding-agent hooks, agent grants, AI spend and audit evidence.

03 · Together

Running both

Keep the prompt tool.
Add the record around it.

Pick one owner per prompt

If a point tool already checks prompts in the browser, leave Shield360's extension uninstalled there. Two tools inspecting the same text box means two dialogs for the same person.

Bring what the point tool does not state

The collector's shadow-AI and personal-account findings, AI spend by person, seat and key, and the signed evidence package do not depend on which tool checks the prompt.

Coding agents and MCP

Several of these tools also cover coding agents and MCP. Where they do, choose one enforcement point per agent; Shield360 can still record agent activity and cost there.

04 · Limits

What Shield360 does not do

What Shield360
does not do.

  • The browser extension runs in managed Chrome and Edge only. It checks prompts and file uploads on eleven AI chat sites and on AI sites you add; on other listed AI sites it allows, warns or blocks the site itself. Each person must allow the sites you add once before their prompts are checked.
  • It does not inspect desktop AI apps' traffic, and does not intercept TLS. AI use outside the extension, the proxy, a hook or the gateway is still observed and attributed, but not blocked.
  • Coding-agent hooks warn or block; they cannot mask, and they do not yet enforce the approved-model list.
  • No exhaustive red-teaming. Every attack starts from a test in your own suites, and generated and multi-turn attacks are only as strong as the evaluation model you configure. Prompt-injection detection is heuristic, with an optional model check.
  • No per-person enforcement: a per-person setting narrows what is collected, not what is enforced.
