Shield360, CloudZero and Vantage for AI spend

CloudZero and Vantage are cloud cost platforms that now bring AI provider bills into the same allocation, budgets and anomaly alerts as the rest of the cloud. Shield360 is not a FinOps platform. It measures AI spend from the person and machine outward — seats, keys, coding agents and shadow AI — in the same product that enforces AI policy and keeps the audit evidence.

01 · In short

Where each one fits

FinOps allocates the bill.
Shield360 explains the AI in it.

Choose CloudZero or Vantage when

The question is the whole cloud bill: allocating AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Kubernetes and SaaS spend to teams and products, unit costs, and anomaly alerts, with AI providers as one more line in it.

Choose Shield360 when

The question is AI specifically: which person, computer, coding agent and API key each dollar of AI spend belongs to, which seats are paid for but unused, which AI is being paid for on personal cards, and the security and compliance record for the same use.

Run both when

Finance already runs a FinOps platform. It stays the system of record for cloud cost; Shield360 adds the per-person, per-seat and per-agent view of AI, and keeps its cloud-bill figures apart from AI figures so nothing is counted twice.

CloudZero's and Vantage's cells come from their own documentation, integrations pages, blogs and press releases. Both platforms do much more for cloud cost than this page covers; the rows are the questions an AI spend owner asks.

03 · Together

Running both

The FinOps platform keeps the cloud.
Shield360 adds the people.

No double counting

Shield360 keeps cloud bills on their own screen and never adds them to AI figures, so a Bedrock or Azure OpenAI line can sit in both tools without inflating either.

Billed first, estimate second

Where a vendor bill is connected, Shield360 quotes what was billed and uses its own estimate only to explain it. Where nothing is connected, every figure is labeled as an estimate.

Hand finance the per-person view

Finance and Executive views break AI spend down by person and department, and the spend report exports as CSV, so the FinOps platform can take it as one more source.

04 · Limits

What Shield360 does not do

What Shield360
does not do.

  • It is not a FinOps platform: no unit economics, no Kubernetes cost allocation, no commitment or rightsizing recommendations.
  • Budget enforcement uses an estimate, because vendor bills arrive late, and acts only on requests through the AI proxy, coding-agent hooks and vendor API consoles in the browser. Seat-priced chat sites and AI outside those points are not stopped.
  • Team budgets need a connected directory (Microsoft Entra ID); Shield360 has no team hierarchy of its own.
  • Per-key cost from OpenAI is only available from a date OpenAI sets; earlier costs are imported without a key.
  • Spend estimated from observed use is an estimate at list prices until a vendor bill is connected.

Put a name on the AI line.

A call starts from the AI line on your current bill and shows which people, seats, keys and coding agents are behind it.
